GNDU Guru Granth Sahib study centre cries for attention
AMRITSAR:THE Centre on Studies in Guru Granth Sahib, set up to conduct in-depth research on aspects of Guru Granth Sahib in 2011 at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), is crying for attention due to shortage of funds. The authorities have claimed that the centre has received only ₹17 crore grant against sanctioned₹47.05 crore.
“The Union government has released only ₹17 crore so far. The centre has not received any grant after the BJP took over the reins,” centre director Amarjit Singh has claimed.
He added that even though review committee of the UGC recommended the authorities to release the remaining amount and the university sending many reminders, nothing was done in the matter. The director said the centre even sent its utilisation certificates to the UGC in a timely manner. “However, on-release of funds has badly hit entire research work,” he added.

In 2015, the centre planned to introduce two inter-disciplinary (ID) courses with an aim to reach out to the university students.
Centre director Amarjit said the centre has so far published eight research projects. “While 10 are under publication, 13 have been completed, but not published yet,” he added.
