KEJRIWAL TO MEET PARTY’S PUNJAB MLA , MPS TODAY

-

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to meet party MPS, MLAS and officebearers from Punjab in the national capital on Thursday to chalk out strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“About 1,500 party leaders, including office-bearers at state, district and block levels, have been called for the meeting. Besides discussion on the election strategy, duties will also be assigned,” said a party spokesperson.

The Delhi meeting will be Kejriwal’s first major interaction with party leaders from Punjab since the 2017 state elections in which the AAP emerged as the principal opposition party with 20 MLAS in the 117strong assembly.

However, the party was rocked by internal feuds with eight of its legislators turning against the central leadership.

Delhi deputy CM and Punjab affairs in-charge, Manish Sisodia, and other central leaders are likely to be present in Thursday’s meeting.

The AAP, which has decided to contest all 13 seats in the state, had won four seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. However, two of them, Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and Harinder Singh Khalsa, were suspended from the party for “anti-party activities” in August 2015.
