3 killed, 5 injured in 4 Himachal mishaps

THE ACCIDENTS TOOK PLACE IN SIRMAUR, KANGRA AND UNA DISTRICTS OF THE STATE

SHIMLA:THREE people were killed and as many as five were injured in three separate accidents in Sirmaur, Kangra and Una districts of Himachal Pradesh in the past two days.

A 36-year-old army man was killed and two were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a 20-feet deep gorge near Gehal village of Sirmaur district. The car was on its way to Gehal from Haripurdha­r.

The deceased has been identified as Virendra Kumar, a resident of Gehal village. The injured were Sheela Devi, 35 (wife) and Shruti (niece).

Police with the help of locals rescued the injured and retrieved the dead body. The injured were rushed to Sangrah civil hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

The dead body was handed over to the family members after postmortem.

A case under Sections 279, 337 and 304 A has been registered.

In another incident, a 50-yearold was killed after he slipped and rolled into a 300-feet deep gorge in Sangrah of Sirmaur district on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Neetaram, a resident of Tikri village of Sangrah. The deceased was returning from Sangrah to his village Tikri when the incident took place. He died on the spot, the police said.

ARMYMAN KILLED IN KANGRA DISTRICT

A 55-year-old army man was killed after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a tree on the roadside near Bhanai on Raja ke talab-jawali road in Kangra district on Sunday.

The vehicle was on its way to Bharmad from Jawali.

The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, resident of Harnota village of Kangra district.

Prima facie, the mishap occurred because of overspeed due to which the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the tree.

A case of negligent driving was registered at Jawali police station and the body was sent for postmortem.

CAR HITS PEDESTRIAN AND BIKE IN UNA, THREE INJURED

Three persons were injured after a Maruti Swift car hit a 60-yearold woman and two bike-borne men next to her, near Dangoli village in Una district on Sunday.

The men identified as Varinder Kumar, 23 and Amit Kumar, 20, residents of Nadaun village in Hamirpur, were on their way to Indira Ground, Una for an Indian Army recruitmen­t test.

The police, with the help of the locals, shifted the injured to Una civil hospital.

The woman, Kalawati, 60, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has been referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh.

“The accident occurred due to negligent driving,” said deputy superinten­dent of police Ashok Verma.

A case under Sections 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the car driver at Sadar police station, Una.
