3 killed, 5 in­jured in 4 Himachal mishaps

THE AC­CI­DENTS TOOK PLACE IN SIRMAUR, KAN­GRA AND UNA DIS­TRICTS OF THE STATE

SHIMLA:THREE peo­ple were killed and as many as five were in­jured in three sep­a­rate ac­ci­dents in Sirmaur, Kan­gra and Una dis­tricts of Himachal Pradesh in the past two days.

A 36-year-old army man was killed and two were in­jured after the ve­hi­cle they were trav­el­ling in fell into a 20-feet deep gorge near Ge­hal vil­lage of Sirmaur dis­trict. The car was on its way to Ge­hal from Haripur­d­har.

The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Viren­dra Ku­mar, a res­i­dent of Ge­hal vil­lage. The in­jured were Sheela Devi, 35 (wife) and Shruti (niece).

Po­lice with the help of lo­cals res­cued the in­jured and re­trieved the dead body. The in­jured were rushed to San­grah civil hos­pi­tal where they are un­der­go­ing treat­ment.

The dead body was handed over to the fam­ily mem­bers after post­mortem.

A case un­der Sec­tions 279, 337 and 304 A has been reg­is­tered.

In an­other in­ci­dent, a 50-yearold was killed after he slipped and rolled into a 300-feet deep gorge in San­grah of Sirmaur dis­trict on Satur­day night. The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Nee­taram, a res­i­dent of Tikri vil­lage of San­grah. The de­ceased was re­turn­ing from San­grah to his vil­lage Tikri when the in­ci­dent took place. He died on the spot, the po­lice said.

ARMYMAN KILLED IN KAN­GRA DIS­TRICT

A 55-year-old army man was killed after the ve­hi­cle he was trav­el­ling in col­lided with a tree on the road­side near Bhanai on Raja ke ta­lab-jawali road in Kan­gra dis­trict on Sun­day.

The ve­hi­cle was on its way to Bhar­mad from Jawali.

The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied as Ra­jesh Ku­mar, res­i­dent of Harnota vil­lage of Kan­gra dis­trict.

Prima fa­cie, the mishap oc­curred be­cause of over­speed due to which the driver lost con­trol of the ve­hi­cle and col­lided with the tree.

A case of neg­li­gent driv­ing was reg­is­tered at Jawali po­lice sta­tion and the body was sent for post­mortem.

CAR HITS PEDES­TRIAN AND BIKE IN UNA, THREE IN­JURED

Three per­sons were in­jured after a Maruti Swift car hit a 60-yearold woman and two bike-borne men next to her, near Dan­goli vil­lage in Una dis­trict on Sun­day.

The men iden­ti­fied as Varinder Ku­mar, 23 and Amit Ku­mar, 20, res­i­dents of Nadaun vil­lage in Hamir­pur, were on their way to Indira Ground, Una for an In­dian Army re­cruit­ment test.

The po­lice, with the help of the lo­cals, shifted the in­jured to Una civil hos­pi­tal.

The woman, Kalawati, 60, a res­i­dent of Ut­tar Pradesh, has been re­ferred to the Post Grad­u­ate In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion & Re­search, Chandigarh.

“The ac­ci­dent oc­curred due to neg­li­gent driv­ing,” said deputy su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice Ashok Verma.

A case un­der Sec­tions 279 and 337 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code has been reg­is­tered against the car driver at Sadar po­lice sta­tion, Una.
