- HT Correspondent

GURUGRAM: The woman, whose decomposed body was recovered from a bed box in a residence in Sector 46 on Saturday, was oneand-a-half months pregnant and was strangulated to death, the autopsy report read.

There were marks on the woman’s neck and she was murdered about five to seven days ago, forensic expert Deepak Mathur, who conducted the autopsy, said. “She could have been strangulated using a rope or a piece of cloth,” he said.

The body of Babita, 30, was found in a house in Sector 46, hidden inside a bed box for over five days after the woman “went missing”. For five days, Dinesh Kumar slept on his bed in a rented room in Jal Vihar Colony in Sector 46, unaware that the body of his driver’s wife was hidden in the bed box, a few centimetres beneath his mattress. Dinesh, who runs a tea business, returned from his village in Narnaul on Monday morning and after taking a breather, went to work.

Over the course of the next five days, he sensed an unpleasant odour in his room, but said that he assumed it was due to the lack of ventilation or a rodent death. On Saturday, he woke up around 8.30am, unable to breathe due to the foul smell.

He opened the box and was shocked to see the decomposing body of a woman, his driver’s wife. He said he immediately called the police after recovering from the initial shock.

The police said Rajesh Kumar, Dinesh’s driver, had allegedly murdered his wife, Babita , and fled after hiding her body in the bed box. Rajesh has been missing since Monday when, according to the police, the murder took place.

On Sunday, Jai Bhagwan, inspector, Sector 50 police station, said that the accused was yet to be traced. “We are conducting raids in multiple areas to arrest him. He was not found at his village in Behror and people said that he has not been there in the past six months,” the SHO said.

Babita’s father had alleged the role of his son-in-law as Kumar suspected Babita of having an affair and warned her against using a mobile phone. KARNAL : A constable posted at Kaithal died after he accidentally shot himself while cleaning his service revolver at his residence on Saturday night.
