Panel notified to resolve ₹31K cr food gap account
CHANDIGARH : The 15th finance commission on Monday announced a committee to examine and resolve the ₹31,000 crore food legacy issue. Commission chairman NK Singh gave approval for the constitution of the committee on Monday, a government spokesperson said. Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has welcomed the move, expressing hope that it will resolve the food debt legacy of ₹30,584 crore, which was key factor behind Punjab’s fiscal crisis. The committee, to be led by commission member Ramesh Chand, has been asked to submit its report within six weeks.
