2 BJP LEADERS CLASH OVER PUBLIC TOILET CONSTRUCTION

-

ROHTAK : Two BJP leaders, including a sitting councillor, clashed with each other over construction of a public toilet at Gandhi Camp area in the city Friday evening.

Councillor Radhe Shyam Dhall and another party leader Loveleen Tuteja exchanged blows with each other in public, following which the police booked Tuteja while an investigation to register a case against Dhall is going on, police said.

Both Tuteja and Dhall had vied for the BJP ticket for the councillor’s post in the recent municipal corporation elections, but the party chose Dhall and left Tuteja disgruntled.

The incident happened after Dhall promised to construct a public toilet in the area on request of local shopkeepers. However, Mukhija, a local resident, objected to the construction of toilet as it was being built close to his house.

On Friday evening, Mukhija called Tuteja and complained about the problem, following which Tuteja and Mukhija allegedly demolished the underconstruction toilet.

When Dhall and his supporters came to know about this development , they too reached the spot and opposed the move. The discussion soon turned physical with both the leaders allegedly assaulting each other.

Dhall’s son Manish lodged a police complaint against Tuteja alleging that the latter assaulted him, his father and some other persons.

Based on his complaint, the police booked Tuteja and Makhija under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
