Youtuber Lilly Singh reveals she is bisexual

-

INTERNET SENSATION TORONTO: Youtuber Lilly Singh, aka Superwoman, on Monday revealed she is bisexual.

The 30-year-old internet sensation said she faced challenges in the past due to her gender, colour and sexuality, but has now decided to “embrace” them. “Female... Coloured... Bisexual. Throughout my life these have proven to be obstacles from time to time. But now I’m fully embracing them as my superpowers. No matter how many ‘boxes’ you check, I encourage you to do the same,” she posted on Twitter.

Lilly was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. Her parents, Malwinder and Sukhwinder Singh, are originally from Punjab and she was raised as a Sikh. Her elder sister Tina Singh is also a Youtuber.

Lilly, who went active on Youtube in 2010, is known for her kooky, energetic mix of comedy sketches, which regularly feature Punjabi parents (both played by her), raps and skits that gently riff on ethnic and gender stereotypes, as well as her observational and motivational monologues and behind-thescenes vlogs. All have helped her become a huge hit on the video-sharing platform.

In 2017, Lilly was announced as a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador, to advocate for children’s rights. She led a campaign “Girllove”, promoting girls to end girl-ongirl hate. With this, she created a “Girllove” rafiki bracelet with the brand ME to WE, and has helped around a thousand of girls to gain education.

Other popular Youtubers have also come out as bisexual in recently. In October, Anna Akana revealed she is a bisexual after getting drunk at the Streamy Awards.
