Jallianwala Bagh soil to be placed at Delhi museum
AMRITSAR : The Union minister of state for tourism and culture (IC), Prahlad Singh Patel, collected soil from Jallianwala Bagh on Tuesday, for it to be placed at the National Museum in Delhi, to bring awareness about the martyrdom of hundreds of innocents.
Prahlad Patel, who was in the holy city on Tuesday, also paid his obeisance at the Golden Temple. The minister, who was accompanied by state BJP president Shwait Malik, also performed sewa by washing utensils at the community kitchen (langar hall) of the shrine.
The minister, then, visited Jallianwala Bagh to pay tribute to martyrs. While collecting soil from the historic bagh, Patel said, “As promised in Parliament, we have collected soil from the bagh to place it at National Museum . This was my long time wish, which I wanted to fulfill during the centenary of Jallianwala Bagh massacre.”
He added, “People across the globe who visit the national capital will now have a tangible connection to the massacre that took place on 13 April 1919, in which hundreds of innocents were martyred .”
