2 militants, 5 aides arrested in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested two militants and five associates at three different places in the Kashmir valley, officials said on Sunday.
The officials said four militant associates were arrested in Budgam district, two in Srinagar and one in Ganderbal.
A police spokesperson said four terrorist associates were arrested from Budgam district and arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession.
“On a credible input, police along with security forces arrested four terrorist associates identified as Muzamil Nabi, Umer Ajaz, both residents of Kanihama, Rouf Bhat and Ishfaq Bhat, both residents of Kantebagh SK Pora. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were also from their possession,” he said.
The spokesperson said they were involved in providing logistic support and shelter to the active terrorists operating in the areas of Magam in Budgam.
The spokesperson said two active terrorists affiliated with proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-taiba were arrested in Srinagar.
He said security forces had intercepted a terrorist-borne vehicle on Barzulla-chanapora road. “During checking, the officials recovered arms and ammunition from the possession of two people. They have been identified as Vakeel Ahmed Bhat @Abu Zarrar and Omar Ismail Das, both residents of Bijbehara in Anantnag district, “the spokesperson said.
At Ganderbal, the security forces arrested Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, a resident of Akhal Kangan.
“According to police records he was involved in assisting the active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-taiba operating in the areas of Ganderbal,” the spokesperson said.
He said Bhat was involved in providing logistic support and shelter to the active terrorists of terror outfit Lashkar-e-taiba operating in the areas of Ganderbal besides transporting terrorists from one district to another district.
“Moreover he was also involved in lobbing grenade on Kangan police station regarding which a case has been registered, “he said.
FIVE MILITANT ASSOCIATES WERE ARRESTED IN BUDGAM DISTRICT AND IN GANDERBAL
