Haryana count rises to four as Gurugram woman tests positive

CHANDIGARH/GURUGRAM: A 22-yearold woman of Gurugram tested positive for the novel coronaviru­s on Thursday, taking the total count of infected patients in Haryana to four.

The other three cases were also reported from Gurugram this week. The patient had travelled to London and is admitted in the isolation ward of a private hospital in the city.

“The fourth case was confirmed by the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune,” said Dr Jaswant Singh Punia, chief medical officer. The woman is a student of internatio­nal marketing and returned from London on March 14.

On Wednesday, a 44-year-old man and his wife, residents of Sector 50, tested positive for the novel coronaviru­s. The state’s first coronaviru­s case was reported from Gurugram on Monday after a 26-year-old woman tested positive

Meanwhile, a total of 3,948 people are under surveillan­ce in the state.

Of the 56 persons who were hospitalis­ed, 32 have been discharged while 24 are still in hospitals, according to Haryana health officials. As many as 108 samples were sent to NIV, Pune, of which four were found positive, 81 negative while reports of the remaining 25 were awaited.

ONE SUSPECTED CASE IN PANIPAT

A 21-year-old Panipat-based man with travel history to UK has been has tested positive for coronaviru­s disease in the preliminar­y test by the Government Medical College Khanpur Kalan. His sample would be sent to NIV, Pune, for the final report, district health officials said.

TIGHT VIGIL ON BLACK MARKETEERS

Taking a serious note of the reported incidents of hoarding and black-marketing of masks, sanitisers and gloves, the Haryana government has tightened the vigil on the manufactur­ers as well as stockists of the these items.

Senior health department officials said the administra­tion has decided to purchase adequate quantity of these items while the industries department officials have started monitoring the production and supply of the same.

SCHOOLS CLOSED TILL MARCH 31

The government ordered complete closure of all government and private schools till March 31. “The teaching and non-teaching employees are to perform their work from home until further orders”, said the order.

On March 13, the state government had declared holidays in schools till March 31, but had announced that the board exams will be conducted as per schedule. The Haryana government also ordered closure of all Anganwadi centres till March 31. NO APNI MANDI, KISAN BAZAR TILL MARCH 31

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has ordered suspension of ‘apni mandi’ and ‘kisan bazar’ across the state till March 31.

MDU CLOSED TILL MARCH 29

The Maharshi Dayanand University(mdu) will remain closed from March 20 to 29. Gulshan Taneja, registrar of the university, said that during this period all employees will stay in their homes and no one will be allowed to leave the campus without prior permission .
