Six deaths, 789 new cases in Haryana

CHANDIGARH:: Haryana on Thursday recorded six deaths and 789 fresh Covid-19 infections across 19 districts, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 28,975, as per the health bulletin.

Three patients succumbed to the disease in Faridabad, while Gurugram, Sonepat and Jhajjar districts recorded one fatality each. With this, the death toll has risen to 378. On Wednesday, Haryana had recorded 724 new cases and eight fatalities.

Until Thursday evening, 88 fresh cases were reported in Ambala district, 22 more people tested positive for the virus in Panchkula, even as the so far worst hit national capital region (NCR) district Faridabad saw the highest 220 new cases followed by Gurugram where 139 people tested positive in past 24 hours.

From 191 on Wednesday, the number of critical patients came down to 149 on Thursday. While 123 patients were on oxygen support, 26 were on ventilator­s. Majority of the critical patients continued undergo treatment in Faridabad-based hospitals.

The state sent 4,90,414 samples for testing and the tests per million count reached 19,346 on Thursday.

Also, 552 more patients were discharged on Thursday. Active cases in Haryana stand at 6,348 with the maximum 1,403 in Faridabad, 1,151 in Gurugram and 622 in Sonepat. Almost 50% of the active cases are confined to three NCR districts.

Nine districts have active cases between the minimum 21 in Jind and the maximum 97 in Kurukshetr­a.

Two district have active cases between 100 and 200, five districts have active cases between 201 and 300 and three districts have active cases between 301 and 400.
