HIMACHAL SECRETARIA­T WEARS A DESERTED LOOK

SHIMLA: Two days after a deputy secretary in the chief minister’s office tested positive for Covid-19 , the Himachal Pradesh secretaria­t wore a deserted look on Friday, with most employees and high-rung officials preferring to stay home.

The secretaria­t administra­tion had sealed chief minister’s office and ordered security to prohibit the entry of the outsiders.

Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, whose is in self quarantine, held a video conference with different officers and took stock of the

Covid-situation in the state, which is gradually assuming alarming proportion­s.

As many as 59 people, including employees’ staff and officials who came in contact with deputy secretary Naresh Kumar are in self quarantine.

All 59 people have tested negative. Chief secretary Anil Khachi attended his office while many other officials stayed back home.

The government also sealed a block in the Government Housing Colony for employees in Brockhurst.

Movements of residents is prohibited except for medical emergencie­s. Sanitisati­on will be carried out in Nahan and Dadahu.

Any person who will violate these orders will be punished with imprisonme­nt which may extend from six months to two years under Section 269, 270 and 188 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management act 2005, said the DC.
