60 fresh infections in Himachal, tally crosses 2,300

SHIMLA: Sixty people tested positive for Covid-19 in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, taking the state’s coronaviru­s count to 2,330, of which 1,067 are active cases.

Of the new cases, 27 were reported in Sirmaur district; seven from Chamba district; three, including a police personnel, from Bilaspur; five from Una; four each from Mandi, Kangra, Solan and Shimla and two from Hamirpur.

A 20-year-old army jawan with a travel history to Leh tested positive at Lahru in Chamba district while another 21-year-old soldier from Bari Kihar village also tested positive. He had also returned from Leh. A 20-year-old man from Churah, who had travelled to Bangalore tested positive after returning while a 25-yearold man from Lahru who had returned from Mumbai also contracted the infection. He was in institutio­nal quarantine. A 25-year-old resident of Barla village who returned from Mumbai is also among the new cases and is in institutio­nal quarantine.

A 29-year-old resident of Dughar village who travelled back from Gurugram tested positive, while a 45-year-old resident of Kathalu village is also infected. He had returned from Mumbai and was in institutio­nal quarantine. A 62-year-old diabetic woman and a 32-year-old woman from Shimla’s Jakhu area are among the new cases. Both have a travel history to Delhi and were in home quarantine, deputy commission­er Amit Kashyap said.

In Bilaspur, a 30-year-old police personnel of the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), who is a resident of Sheri village in Karsog, has tested positive. Two labourers are among the fresh cases . In Kangra district, a fouryear-old girl of Kulthi village has tested positive and a 36-year-old para military personnel also tested positive. He had retuned from Srinagar. A 31-year-old man who is resident of Drang tested positive while a 50-year-old woman, who is resident of Kuthli village, also tested positive.

With 567 cases, Solan is the worst hit district in the state followed by Kangra with 430 cases. Hamirpur has 302 cases, Sirmaur 300, Una 195, Shimla 151, Mandi 126, Chamba 103, Bilaspur 87, Kinnaur 41, and Kullu has 24 cases. With four Covid-19 cases till date, Lahaul and Spiti is the least affected district.

TOURISTS BANNED IN TANU JUBBAR AREA

The Shimla district administra­tion on Tuesday implemente­d a complete ban on entry of tourists at Tanu Jubbar, 70km from Shimla, till further orders.

SDM Kumarsain Gunjeet Singh Cheema said it is mandatory to implement immediate preventive and precaution­ary measures to avoid further spread of virus.
