Mishra shares a fourdecade friendship with Sinha, who is is likely to be administered the oath of office and secrecy on Friday by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Justice Gita Mittal on Friday. Sinha belongs to Mohanpura village in Ghazipur and made a mark in student politics at BHU in the 1980s.he was in Varanasi till the Raksha Bandhan (August 3) and left for Delhi that evening after being called to the national capital, Mishra said.

“It was being expected that he would be given some big responsibility, but no one thought that he would be appointed Lt Governor. But the great news came in the morning,” Mishra added.

Sinha’s elder brother Amitabh lives in Chandrika Nagar Colony in Varanasi’s Sigra area. “Manoj ji called him in the morning and informed him about his appointment as Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He also sought blessings from his elder brother Amitabh,” he said.

“Manoj has been a brilliant student. He did B.tech and M Tech from IIT-BHU. In B Tech, he got a gold medal. He won the BHU students union election in the early 1980s,” he added.

Sangh, the BJP’S ideological mentor, was considered a front-runner for the chief minister’s post after the BJP’S victory in the assembly elections in UP in 2017. He was pipped to the post at the last minute by Yogi Adityanath.

If he was disappointed at losing the job, he did not show it, said a party colleague.

According to this colleague, Sinha proceeded to push ahead development schemes in Varanasi, the PM’S Lok Sabha constituency.
