AMRITSAR : The state health department has decided to increase the number of session sites for Covid-19 vaccination drive from 59 on Tuesday to nearly 350 from Wednesday, for inoculating Covishield vaccine to the private and government health workers.

For the first three days of the vaccination drive, session sites were created only at government health centres and hospitals in Punjab. Since the government sector health beneficiaries are showing lukewarm response in getting vaccinated, the state health department has decided to create session sites at 90 private hospitals in Punjab so that vaccination of private sector health workers could be done easily.

“For the first three days, vaccine was being inoculated to health workers at only 59 locations in Punjab but the response of beneficiaries was unsatisfactory. For the convenience of the health workers, we have decided to increase the session sites to nearly 350 so that they can visit the sites as per their duties. Since private sector health workers are more in Punjab as compared to government sector health workers, 90 of the 350 session sites will be created at private hospitals,” said Punjab’s nodal officer for Covid-19 Dr Rajesh Bhaskar.

He added: “Besides 90 private hospitals, session sites will be created at district hospitals, government health centres and government medical colleges in Punjab.”
