Committee can’t resolve impasse over laws: Sukhbir

JALANDHAR: Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday said the Centre was not sincere towards the welfare of the farmers, adding the committee formed by the apex court could not play any constructi­ve role in resolving the crisis.

He said the SAD will utilise the forthcomin­g parliament­ary session to hold meetings with the like-minded parties to work towards restoratio­n of the federal structure in the country. He asked the BJP government not to use the National Investigat­ion Agency (NIA) to harass farmer leaders.

He said his party will form a judicial commission if voted to power in 2022 and get probed all “false cases” registered during the Congress regime and action will be taken against the erring cops and other government officials, said party president Sukhbir Singh Badal while addressing rallies at Banga and Nawanshahr cities of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and Phagwara of Kapurthala district in the run-up to the civic body polls in the state slated for February 14.

Prompt action will be taken against government officers concerned,” he added.
