Haryana CM’S no to booze sale
While the state government was contemplating to extend the lockdown in Haryana last week, the excise and taxation department made a case for opening the liquor vends across the state. Deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala who holds the excise portfolio also pushed for resumption of liquor sale during the extended lockdown. The excise department justified the proposed move on two grounds - proliferation of smuggled liquor from neighbouring states and loss of revenue. However, the proposal did not find favour with the chief minister who overruled the proposed resumption of liquor trade.
