CAN’T BE PART OF DELIMITATION WITH NO MPS, MLAS, SAYS PDP
SRINAGAR: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday said that it cannot participate in the ongoing delimitation process in Jammu and Kashmir as the party at present has no incumbent member of parliament (MP) as well as the member of legislative assembly (MLA).
Party spokesman Suhail Bukhari said, “The other parties can take a decision on their own whether they should participate in the process or not,” in a veiled reference to the National Conference (NC) which has three MPS — all from the Kashmir.
He said the delimitation commission has been formed in such a way that only elected representatives can be part of the exercise and presently PDP has no representatives either in parliament or assembly.
Earlier this month, the NC had said that senior leaders would sit with party president Farooq Abdullah to take a decision on participating in the delimitation. Prior to this, the party had boycotted the meeting of the delimitation panel, later dropping hints about joining the future meetings.
