They are among the top Asian teams but their record is dismal in World Cups. They will look to make it to the knockouts for the first time since 1994. They draw hope from their defence which conceded one goal in 10 games in the final phase of the qualifiers.

They always fly high in group stages but falter thereafter. El Tri will look to go one step further than their seven consecutive exits at Round of 16 stage. Their build-up hasn’t been good with just two draws in four games against USA and Canada.

The 27-year-old forward has been doing well with Napoli and will hope to carry that form to Qatar. Coach: Gerardo Martino

They qualified through play-offs with wins over Czech Republic and Sweden but passing the group stage at World Cup has been a bridge too far in their last three appearances.
