FARMER LEADER REJECTS PUNJAB SPEAKER’S PLEA TO END FAST

BATHINDA : Punjab speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan reached out to Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal with an appeal to end his indefinite fast.

Sandhwan assured the BKU faction chief that he would take up the farmers’ demands with the state authoritie­s but Dallewal remained adamant and said he would end his fast only after the authoritie­s implemente­d promises made by the chief minister in three earlier meetings with the unions this year.

Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) activists, who are holding a chakka jam or road blockade for the past one week, on Tuesday decided to scale up their agitation from Wednesday and burn effigies Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann.
