VB assesses retd ADGP’S property
DA COMPLAINT
CHANDIGARH : Punjab vigilance and anti-corruption bureau, on Wednesday, assessed a farmhouse owned by Punjab police’s retired additional director general of police (ADGP) Rakesh Chandra, situated in Mohali district on the outskirts of Chandigarh in a disproportionate assets (DA) case. According to a senior VB functionary, Chandra’s posh farmhouse was assessed in the probe related to disproportionate assets. The probe was ordered based on a complaint that the ADGP had amassed huge wealth as compared to his income. Chandra retired as ADGP earlier this year. When Charanjit Singh Channi became the CM in 2018, a probe was ordered against Chandra on the charges of malpractice, but he was given a clean chit. Vigilance bureau DSP Varinder Gill, who led the team, told media persons that the assessment is being made on the complaint that of the total 10 acres of land acquired for the farmhouse, 7 acres belong to the forest department. “We have got NOC of the forest department from Chandra’s side, and we will match this NOC from the forest department documents,” said the DSP.
