Man held for abetment to suicide in Kaithal

KARNAL: Four days after a 21-year-old girl hanged herself to death after an obscene video of her went viral on social media, the Kaithal police have arrested one person for forcing her to take the extreme step.

As per the police complaint, the victim allegedly died by suicide at her residence in a village under the Kalayat police station on November 20 after a video of her reached her family members. Later, the victim’s father had filed a police complaint against three youths, Abhishek Kumar, Mausam and Shekhar for allegedly sharing her video on social media and Whatsapp groups.

According to the complainant, the victim ended her life by hanging herself. She also left a suicide note disclosing the names of the accused. Soon after the filing of the police complaint, the police had launched a hunt to nab the accused after registering an FIR under Sections 306 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The investigating officer said the police have arrested the main accused Abhishek Kumar of Dumada village.
