Kanungo held for graft

TARN TARAN: The Punjab vigilance bureau (VB) on Thursday nabbed revenue kanungo Om Parkash, posted at circle Thathi Sohal in Tarn Taran district, red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

A VB spokespers­on said the kanungo was arrested on the complaint of Bhalwinder Singh of Jhabal village, Tarn Taran.

He said the complainan­t alleged that the revenue official was demanding a bribe of Rs 25,000 for providing him demarcatio­n report of his relative and the deal was struck at Rs 10,000. After verifying his complaint, a VB team laid a trap and the accused was caught red -handed accepting the bribe.

Patwari nabbed in Hoshiarpur

In another case, VB caught patwari Lakhbir Singh, posted at Dasuya, red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. Gardawar Tejinder Singh Goldy has also been nominated in the case. The patwari was arrested on the complaint of Jugraj Singh of Usman Shaheed village, who alleged that the patwari and gardawar demanded Rs 10,000 for implementi­ng division and demarcatio­n of his ancestral agricultur­al land.
