NIA COURT EXTENDS REMAND OF KHANPURIA
MOHALI: The Special Court of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Mohali on Friday extended the police remand of Kulwinderjit Singh, alias Khanpuria, by four days in an alleged 2019 conspiracy case. He was on a three-day police remand taken by State Special Operation Cell (SSOC). The SSOC sought a seven-day day remand but court sent him on 4-day police remand.
Khanpuria is associated with Babbar Khalsa International and the Khalistan Liberation Force. Absconding since 2019, Khanpuria is allegedly involved and wanted in many terrorist cases.
On November 21, NIA announced his arrest from Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Khanpuria, an Amritsar native, had been absconding since 2019 and was involved and wanted in many terrorist cases, including the conspiracy to carry out targeted killings in Punjab. He was also involved in a bomb blast case in Connaught Place, New Delhi and grenade attacks in other states in the 1990s.
Investigations have revealed that Kulwinderjit Khanpuria is the chief conspirator and mastermind behind the conspiracy for carrying out terrorist attacks in India by targeting establishments connected with Dera Sacha Sauda as well as those belonging to police and security in Punjab.
