83.2% POLLING RECORDED IN FINAL PHASE OF PANCHAYAT POLLS IN HARYANA

CHANDIGARH: The third and final phase of the panchayat polls to elect panches and sarpanches in four districts of Haryana on Friday recorded 83.2% turnout.

Haryana State Election Commission­er (SEC) Dhanpat Singh said that all three phases of the Panchayati Raj Institutio­ns (PRI s) polls have now been completed peacefully across the state.

Voting was held to elect 929 sarpanches and 10,362 panches in 25 blocks of Faridabad, Fatehabad, Hisar and Palwal districts. Polling began at 7 am and ended at 6 pm.

Singh said that the results were declared after the elections.

The counting of votes of panchayat samiti and zila parishad members will be held on November 27.

“Long queues of youth, elderly and women were seen at the polling stations since morning. The voters did not face any inconvenie­nce in casting their votes and the entire voting process concluded smoothly,” he said.
