MAN HELD FOR RAPING MINOR GIRL IN NAINITAL

RUDRAPUR: A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in a village of Kaladhungi area of Nainital district. Rape survivor has been admitted to Sushila Tiwari hospital Haldwani, said police.

“Police have arrested a man for raping a minor from a village in Kaladhungi on Friday. The rape survivor has been admitted in Haldwani. A team of female doctors conducted a medical examinatio­n on her,” said Pankaj Bhatt, senior superinten­dent of police (SSP), Nainital district.

Police said a couple from Bihar works in the constructi­on of a resort in Kaladhungi on a daily wage basis. The couple had gone to work on Friday leaving behind the minor daughter.

The man entered the house and raped the minor. When the couple returned from work, they found their minor daughter writhing in pain, the police said.

The couple’s neighbours informed them that a man who was also a daily wager had committed the crime. They took the minor to the government hospital for a medical check-up.

They later approached the police station and handed over a complaint against the accused.

Police arrested the 45-yearold accused on Friday evening. He was found to be a native of West Bengal, said the SSP.
