2 more cheetahs released in acclimatisation enclosure

-

Two cheetahs were moved from the quarantine zone to the larger acclimatisation enclosure at Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park on Sunday, taking the number of big cats in the area to five, an official said. Eight cheetahs arrived from Namibia on September 17 as part of the reintroduction project of the species and were released into the quarantine zone by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Female cheetahs Asha and Tbilisi joined males Obaan, Alton, and Freddie in the larger enclosure,” said said a senior forest officer. Obaan was released into the enclosure on Nov 18, while Elton and Freddie were moved Nov 5.
