Electronic media losing credibility

-

The change in ownership of NDTV is a significant development in the country’s media landscape. Most of the television news channels usually show their bias in favour of the ruling dispensation, but NDTV treaded the middle ground. For a healthy democracy, media must be independent and should not be inclined towards any political party. It is a matter of regret that the electronic media is fast losing its credibility. The print media’s credibility is much more than that of the electronic media.

Hoshiarpur taste that Israel’s ambassador had to express regret. One may disagree with the content of a film but the selection of words to comment about it should be appropriate and relevant. The Kashmir Files may be anything but vulgar. Such comments from a person from a country that underwent the tragedy of holocaust are unimaginable but even got support from actors like Swara Bhaskar. Selection of a controversial film-maker in the IFFI jury should not have taken place and if he had reservations, it should have been confined to jury members and reflect in the rating of the film, but a public outburst was unjustified.
