Doctor advises students to maintain the right posture while studying. Students sometimes like to lie down on the bed and read but this may increase the pressure on eyes and lead to headaches.

“It is extremely important to maintain the right posture while studying. One should always study on the table. Studying on the bed or in a half sitting posture is a big mistake. This in turn will add strain on the body and eyes,” said Dr Ajay Sharma, chief medical director, Eye Q Super Specialty Hospital.

Drinking plenty of water and having a nutritious meal helps. Getting an adequate sleep for 7-8 hours is important to refresh the brain. Avoid sitting in front of the computer, laptop or TV for long.

“Students should try to study more during the day time rather than staying awake late at night. Also, if you are wearing contact lenses, make sure you wash your hands before using lenses. This will reduce the risk of an eye infection,” said Dr Sharma.
