NEW DELHI: A group of lawyers allegedly barged into Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, on Friday afternoon and beat up the school staff and vandalized property.

According to police, Rajeev Sharma, a lawyer, was near the Saket Court Complex on his bike when a private school cab driver asked him to stop since he was helping children cross the road. The incident happened around 2 pm, after school hours.

“An altercation broke out between the two, after which Sharma went back to the school with 20-25 other lawyers. They proceeded to assault the guard and vandalized school property,” said a senior police official.

The police are in the process of filing a case. According to teachers, the lawyers were enraged that a driver had asked them to stop.

“The mob assaulted the physical education teacher and broke window panes in the school reception,” a teacher said on condition of anonymity.

Representatives of the school said the altercation was between a private school cab driver and the lawyer alone and that none of the staff members were assaulted.
