NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old Greek man was arrested with a substantia­l amount of popular hallucinog­enic drug LSD and hashish, estimated to be worth `15 lakh in the internatio­nal drug market, the crime branch said.

The consignmen­t of LSD that Emmanouil Chatzakis from the Greek town of Sitia was carrying happens to be the first of its kind to be seized in Delhi in half a decade, said Ravindra Yadav, additional commission­er of police (crime).

The police said Chatzakis had come to Delhi on February 20 and was supposed to deliver LSD to different buyers based in the national capital region (NCR) before being intercepte­d and caught by the police team.

“While the hashish is supposedly worth `1 lakh in the drug market, the LSD which he was supposed to peddle could have fetched around `14 lakh,” Yadav added.

A popular hallucinog­en, LSD had allegedly been used by NRI student Anmol Sarna and his friends at a house party in Kalkaji in September last year.
