Gambhir to lead Delhi in one-dayers
DUBAI: Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir will lead Delhi in the one-dayers for Vijaya Hazare Trophy that will be held in Delhi from January 27. The opener will team up with Virender Sehwag and lead the side that includes some seasoned campaigners as well as some knoen names in the domestic circuit.

INDIA SEEKS IOC HELP FOR ANTI-FIXING LAW LONDON: India has sought inputs from International Olympic Committee (IOC) to finetune its proposed comprehensive legislation on prevention of ‘match and spot fixing’ in the backdrop of such allegations in cricket. In a letter to IOC Director General Christophe De Kepper, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Jitendra Singh has requested sharing of the body’s knowledge in drafting the bill. “Ethics have become even more important after some incidents in cricket which amount to “match/spot fixing”. This has led to increased demand for greater regulation to prevent similar incidents in future,” Singh said in the letter.
FIFA TEAM INSPECTS COOPERAGE GROUND MUMBAI: A two-member FIFA team visited the refurbished Cooperage football ground here on Sunday to have a look at its artificial playing surface and other amenities as part of their inspection of eight venues shortlisted to host the Under-17 World Cup in 2017. FIFA’s Director of Competition, Inaki Alvarez and Competition Manager, Vijay Parthasarthy, inspected the facilities of the Cooperage and expressed their satisfaction. “This ground is very good. But we (FIFA) will need some time to finalise the venues,” he told mediapersons.
