of organisational behaviour and human resources, I learnt, early on, the importance of working together in teams. I also gained insights into what makes a great team.
I have truly cherished building teams and leading, coaching and mentoring my teammates to reach their maximum potential and attain professional (and personal) success. Each such experience, no matter how small the impact or geographical coverage, has made me proud. I would not trade the teams’ achievement for individual success, ever.
My professional mantra is: ‘Do what you love or love what you do’. This has been my best learning yet. All of us have our preferences, and the organisational realities may not make it easy for us to find that one perfect job that we dream about. There are always aspects in any role that we may not like. The sooner you can get your head around and begin to love what you do, the better it will be – for you and for the organisation you work for.
It is important to always look at the bigger picture and focus on the impact our role has on the company. It is always good to align your goals with that of the organisation you work for. It is about being professional and building a career, brick by brick. They all eventually add up.
