GREATER NOIDA: A man killed his 16-year-old daughter along with one of his tenants who was in a relationship with her for the past few years in Ganghola village near Greater Noida, police said on Saturday.

Police, who suspect it to be a case of honour killing, said the man - identified as Rajkumar first killed the tenant and then strangled his daughter in a fit of rage. He later surrendered to the police and confessed to his crime.

According to the police, the tenant Gulab (26) hailed from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and was living in Rajkumar’s house for the past six years and was said to be in a relationship with latter’s daughter Varsha for the past two years. Rajkumar was against their union and claimed he caught them in a compromising position at around 9.30 pm on Friday.

Furious with his daughter, he tried one last time to convince Varsha against the marriage but she did not budge.

Rajkumar then hatched a plan to kill them both. He first sent his daughter out for some work and in the meantime, strangled Gulab to death with a cloth. When his daughter returned, he took her inside the house and strangled her too.

Soon after the incident Rajkumar went to the village head and confessed his crime of killing both of them. They then informed the police and the head of the village registered the complaint, leading to Rajkumar’s arrest.
