ROGER LANGBOUR, RETIRED FRENCH AIR FORCE

-

He first came to India during the emergency in 1975. He was posted at the Embassy of France in Delhi. He chose to stay on and bought land at village Patharthi, 65 kms from Delhi to start the French Farm. He was quite miffed about the low quality meat he received here. “I went back to France, learnt farming techniques for six months. I came back and started breeding ducks. People thought I was crazy,” says Langbour. He gradually also started growing seasonal vegetables on his three-acre farm. He provides ducks, quails, chicken, pigs and veggies to restaurants, expats and organic stores in Gurgaon and Delhi. He was awarded Chevalier de l’Orde du Merite (Order of Merit) for his contribution to agriculture by the French government.
