KOLKATA: A railways employee lodged an FIR on Friday alleging that she had been gangraped multiple times over the last three years by a group of men inside the Chitpur rail yard in North Kolkata.

The victim, who is in her late 20s, has accused a local goon — Jeet Ganguly and his associates of the crime and has revealed that the barbarism continued even when she was pregnant. The accused also clicked photos of the act and threatened to publicize the photos if the victim complained to the police.

The victim, along with her husband, tried to lodge a complaint with the Chitpur GRP but they were turned away by the officials. The duo then approached the Dum Dum GRP but police advised the man to abandon his wife instead.

It was only after news began to spread across the media that senior officials ordered an enquiry into the case.

Ganguly and his associates first raped the woman in 2011, a few months after she got the job in Chitpur rail yard. Over the years Ganguly and his gang continued to rape the woman. She was last gangraped on July 15 — when she was five months pregnant.

The OC of Chitpur GRP outpost and OC of Dumdum GRP were ‘closed’ or taken off duty.

Police arrested three accused including key accused Jeet Ganguly.

“All those guilty would be severely dealt with. Even if policemen are found guilty of ignoring complaints, they would be dealt in accordance with law,” said Utpal Naskar, SRP, Sealdah.
