CBI says Sinha’s wedding attendance a ‘social obligation’
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday said that its chief Ranjit Sinha attended former intelligence bureau special director Rajinder Kumar’s son’s wedding “as part of social obligation in his individual capacity”.
Reacting to an HT story titled ‘CBI chief partied with former IB boss he charged in Ishrat case’ published on July 25, CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said the report tends to cast aspersion on the professional capacity of the functioning of CBI as an investigating agency.
“Investigation in the case has already been completed many monthsbeforethesaidfunctiontook place,”theCBIsaid.Thecorrespondent responded saying, “I had spoken to the CBI director before doing the story. He said that attending the function was his “private affair” and he will not answer any query in this regard. Sinha’s remark was carried prominently in the story.
