To meet or not to meet

With reference to Karan Thapar’s article We either show ourselves up or let ourselves down (Sunday Sentiments, July 20), the controversy around the Ved Pratap Vaidik-Hafiz Saeed meeting was unnecessary and unfortunate. It was blown out of proportion by the Opposition and the media. The Opposition’s agenda is understandable. It is always on the lookout for material to embarrass and harass the government. But it is shocking that the media have made such a big issue of this meeting.

Perhaps publicity. He should make his objective, means and ends clear to the people. Journalism is not a garb for anyone’s personal agenda.
