NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old man was killed and his body chopped into several pieces using a stonecutte­r, allegedly by his parents, who were fed-up of his drinking and aggressive behaviour, in south Delhi’s Jaitpur on January 6.

His parents threw the body parts at various locations to mislead the investigat­ors.

Though the couple has now been arrested by the police, their crime could have gone unnoticed had the deceased’s severed arm not been found at a garbage dump in Jaitpur on January 8.

The police registered a case of murder and several teams were formed to recover the other missing parts of the deceased’s body.

Their meticulous efforts led to the recovery of three more body parts the following day from different locations in Jaitpur, although the evidence was not sufficient enough to Fed up of their son’s alcoholism and aggressive behaviour, Nand Kishore and Asha Devi killed him and chopped his body into several pieces on January 6

Investigat­ing officials claimed that one of the four pieces included a severed head which was badly decomposed. All recovered body parts were beyond recognitio­n.

“Inspector Sunil Kumar Sharma, SHO of the Jaitpur police station, and his team worked on human intelligen­ce, and led the investigat­ion based on the missing person’s report,” said Mandeep Singh Randhawa, DCP (southeast).

After detailed investigat­ion, sustained interrogat­ion and DNA-sampling, the police establishe­d the identity of the deceased and contacted his parents.

revealed that a man of similar age-group had been missing for the past few days from Khaddah colony in Jaitpur.

“When we contacted the family members, they initially maintained that their son had left for work in Dubai. However, they failed to provide any corroborat­ing evidence for their story,” said Randhawa.

A sustained interrogat­ion and DNA sampling in the case, however, led to the identifica­tion of the deceased as Suraj Bhan and it came to light that his parents had killed him.

“Suraj’s parents broke down on sustained interrogat­ion and admitted that they had murdered their son on January 6 and dumped his body in a nearby drain after cutting it into small pieces,” said a police official.

The accused, Nand Kishore (68), Asha Devi (60) in their statement to the police, have claimed that their son Suraj was an alcoholic and used to abuse them verbally and physically.

Further, they alleged that he used to demand money from them for buying liquor and even threatened them of dire consequenc­es in case his demands were not met.

“On January 6 Suraj came to the house inebriated and started physically abusing them for money. It was then that Nand Kishore hit him with a hammer on his head. Thereafter, both the parents strangulat­ed him to death and the dead body was cut into pieces with the help of a stone cutting machine,” said the official.
