MNC employee held for stealing bag from train
NEW DELHI: A 30-year-old employee of a multinational company (MNC) has been arrested by the Delhi Railway Police for allegedly stealing a bag containing a laptop, mobile phone and wrist watch from a train, police said on Friday.
The arrested employee has been identified as Sunil Singh, a native of Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh. Singh has been working as a manager in the British India Biological Private Limited at Bangalore. They have recovered all stolen items from Singh. The accused was in Delhi to attend a meeting and was staying at his friend’s home in Kapashera in southwest Delhi.
Sanjay Bhatia, deputy commissioner of police (railways), said the crime came to the fore on January 23, when a passenger who was travelling to Delhi from Varanasi in Garib Rath train lodged a theft complaint at Anand Vihar Railway police station.
“The passenger told us that he was travelling in coach number D and while everybody was exiting the coach at Anand Vihar Railway station, he found his laptop bag missing. We immediately registered a case and scanned the footage from 41 CCTV cameras installed at the railway station. The suspect, whom the complainant identified as a co-passenger, was spotted carrying the bag in two CCTV cameras,” said an investigating officer adding a case was registered and investigation has been taken up.
A team comprising SHO Ram Singh and head constable Maharaj Singh obtained details of passengers.
