JAMMU: In another ceasefire violation, Pakistan resorted to firing in the Arnia sector of Jammu injuring three — two men and a woman — on Thursday night.

All three persons have been admitted to the government medical college hospital in Jammu.

According to BSF officials, the personnel manning the border outposts noticed suspicious movement along the International Border at around 7.30 pm on Thursday. They fired on the group of people, who turned back from near the fence.

After this, Pakistan Rangers targeted 10 BSF posts and resorted to mortar shelling, which hit houses and a school in the Arnia sector. The BSF has said that nearly seven infiltration bids have been foiled in the recent past, mainly from this sector.

On Friday, governor NN Vohra directed the divisional commissioner and inspector general of police, Jammu, to visit the affected area to take PC CHACKO, Congress leader stock of the situation. The Congress, on Friday, targeted the Centre for the increase in ceasefire violations in the last few months. ”The Indo-Pak border has never been more troublesome than what it is during this government’s time. We feel this is the miserable failure of the Modi government to deal with Pakistan. Pakistan has been behaving as if they don’t take India seriously,” said PC Chacko, Congress leader.
