Reason to rejoice, Raahgiri at CP, Dwarka on Sunday
NEW DELHI: Delhiites have double the reason to rejoice this Sunday with Raahgiri scheduled at both, Connaught Place and Dwarka.
Fitness enthusiasts can take their pick from a host of diverse activities ranging from cycling (cycles are available rent-free at the venue), Bollywood workouts (which involve dancing to fastpaced numbers), yoga, aerobics and functional training activities.
People can also get their own skates, unicycles or other fitness equipment and make use of the streets which have been cordoned off from traffic.
The timing for the event is between 6 am to 9 am at Connaught Place and 7 am to 10 am at Dwarka (near the DDA Sports Complex, Sector 6).
Raahgiri, a people’s movement, is organised in the city by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Police, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Embarq. The initiative is also supported by several citizen groups and Hindustan Times, among others.
Apart from sensitising Delhiites to the idea of nonmotorised transport and encouraging them to cycle more, Raahgiri also aims to educate people on road safety.
