Two ad professionals with cameras detained near governor’s residence
NEW DELHI: The north Delhi police detained two men after they were found suspiciously roaming around Civil Lines area with video cameras installed in their high-end sports car.
The men were however, let off after a joint interrogation by several security agencies.
According to sources, the men were detained near Raj Niwas by a PCR stationed nearby. “The two had driven around Raj Niwas thrice before finally being stopped. We discovered that they had installed five small cameras on the windows, which was very suspicious,” said a police official.
Further, sources claim initial investigation revealed that the men had behaved in a similar manner around Delhi University area and failed to provide proper reasons.
“As per their initial statements to the PCR, the men revealed that they wanted to record school and college students on video,” said a police official.
A interrogation by several security agencies revealed that the men wanted to record the excitement of people on seeing a sports car.
“The men had previously worked for an advertising agency and wanted to start their own venture and were recording the video for the same,” said a police official.
The Delhi Police have been on alert since the siege of a café in Sydney and the Peshawar school attack on December 16, which killed more than 140 people.
The police had increased security at five-star hotels, schools, colleges and malls in the national Capital in the wake of the advisory issued by the ministry of home affairs. “They didn’t have proper documents for a shoot in the area, but were let off after a warning,” said DCP (north) Madhur Verma.
