NEW DELHI: Delhi’s new chief minister Arvind Kejriwal made ‘Crocin’ trend on Twitter.

Ramlila Maidan was filled with a sea of followers as he took to the stage for his swearing-in ceremony but Kejriwal who had been keeping unwell for the past few days looked a bit under the weather.

During his impassioned speech during the ceremony, the new chief minister said he had come to the ground after popping in a Crocin tablet as he was not feeling very well. Soon, the word ‘Crocin’ was trending on the micro-blogging site.

There were several jokes on the social networking platform that said the makers of Crocin should thank Kejriwal for making it so popular.

Twitter jokes apart, he had to cancel his first cabinet meeting because of his illness. Later, he underwent a health checkup around 5pm. His doctor Dr Vipin Mittal told HT that while his fever had reduced, he had severe body ache and required rest.

Mittal explained that Kejriwal suffered from a chronic cough since childhood, which can only be contained with medicines.

“He does not like to take antibiotics and relies on ayurvedic medicines and naturopathy. But since his condition got worse, he agreed to take antibiotics. We even had to give him steroids,” Dr Mittal said.
