FARIDABAD: A group of armed criminals barged inside a house in NIT area on Friday, looting cash and valuables in broad daylight.

A case has been registered but the police are clueless about the thieves and no arrest has been made. The incident occurred at 11am in Neighbourhood Three (NH3) area of NIT. At the time of the robbery, the woman of the house, Shashi Pehwa, and her maid Usha were in the house.

Police officials said that one of the thieves went on pretext of delivering a parcel. Shashi’s husband Surinder Pehwa and his 24-year-son were not at home at the time of the incident.

The maid opened the door and when she went to handover the packet to Shashi, four armed youth followed her inside the house. They took them hostage and warned them of dire consequences if they refused to hand them over the keys to the lockers.

One armed criminal threatened to kill the couple’s son for which they claimed had already received money from someone.

The criminals fled with about `5 lakh in cash, some jewellery and some coins. Shashi later informed the neighbours and her husband who immediately rushed to the house and contacted the police. “We have registered a case of loot and a massive hunt has been launched to track the looters,” said police incharge NH3 Hari Om.

The packet delivered was a blank wedding card.
