Manjhi includes Paswans under Mahadalit ambit I NEVER PRESSURISED GOVERNOR: NITISH
PATNA: Janata Dal (U) leader Nitish Kumar on Saturday said he had never pressurised governor Keshari Nath Tripathi by calling for a confidence vote within 24 or 48 hours. He said the governor was himself convinced of the arguments.
“I have all respect for the governor but he should understand that undue time gives the impression that he is under pressure from someone,” Kumar said. He said the governor should not give political statements, which would be construed as some sort of message to the MLAs.
Kumar had earlier said that CM Jitan Ram Manjhi’s statements after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected that he got a license for horse trading.
In the backdrop of Kumar’s remarks, Tripathi said that he had acted in accordance with constitutional provisions and after going through several Supreme Court rulings.
“A joint session of the Bihar legislature is scheduled on February 20 for the budget session. It is only appropriate that a decision is taken then after a trust vote. One must wait for it,” he said. Tripathi added that he needed time to study constitutional provisions and SC rulings to arrive at a decision.
