GHAZIABAD: Delhi’s new chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday interacted with the local residents while taking a walk with his wife on Sunday morning.

The Kejriwals were seen getting back to their morning walk routine at around 7.30 am. The couple took a walk from their residence to the Aam Aadmi Party office few metres away and back. Security persons followed them from a distance during the walk.

“I go for a morning walk daily but due to the hectic schedule during the election campaign I didn’t find time. I have many friends who walk with me every day,” said Kejriwal.

Later in the day, former minister in Arvind Kejriwal’s government Rakhi Bidlan also reached Kaushambi to meet him. Not divulging any details, she said it was an “informal meet”.

Kaushambi area of Ghaziabad shares a border with Delhi. Residents of the area said that there are many issues that get resolved only when there is a better coordination between Delhi and Ghaziabad officials.

VK Mittal, president of Kaushambi residents’ welfare association said, “We are proud of Arvind Kejriwal. He initiated his fight against corruption from Kaushambi. He is a responsible resident and he had promised that he will contribute towards the welfare of the locality. He was the one who cleared the file on Metro extension to Ghaziabad during his earlier stint as Delhi’s CM.”

Finding their loved neighbour and ‘hero’ among themselves, many neighbours greeted him and clicked pictures with Kejriwal.

“It was good to see Arvind Kejriwal among us again. Even after becoming CM he is still as simple and down to earth like he used to be. He has promised to highlight problems in the locality,” said Suman Raghav, a resident of Kaushambi.
