Hazare to join Jantar Mantar protest against land ordinance

-

NEW DELHI: Social activist Anna Hazare will hold a two-day protest at Jantar Mantar later this month against recent amendments made by the Centre in the Land Acquisition Act.

Several farmers’ organisations are set to support this agitation and many activists including Medha Patkar will participate in it. “The two-day protest starting February 23 will focus on the recent anti-farmer amendments made by the Modi government in the Land Acquisition Act,” Hazare’s office said.

On December 29 last year, the government had recommended promulgation of an ordinance making significant changes in the Land Acquisition Act including removal of consent clause for acquiring land for five areas of industrial corridors, PPP projects, rural infrastructure, affordable housing and defence.

This will be Hazare’s first visit to the Capital after his one-time aide Arvind Kejriwal’s victory.

AAP too has voiced its opposition to amendments made to the Act.“We will support Annaji’s ‘sangharsh’. His struggle is, however, different from political parties. But how does thinking act as karma? Don’t we know that negative thinking causes mental diseases? By the way, all acts done by us take their subtle forms in our minds first.

Two, these fruits or results have different gestation periods. Some karmas bring quick results while some others are saved for future. Some karmas even bear fruits in the next life or even later. This is in-built in the system. If we expect instant results,
