RSS must expand to bring unity in society: Bhagwat
GAME PLAN At 4-day meet, RSS chief says commitment, not speeches required
KANPUR: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday stressed on the need for the organisation to expand and aim to bring “unity” in society.
Addressing about 10,000 RSS workers, Bhagwat kicked off the four-day ‘mathan’ held in Kanpur.
This comes on the heels of the BJP’s rout in Delhi where the party managed to win three out of 70 seats. The closed-door meetings are likely to discuss the organisation’s strategy to galvanise and energise the cadre with elections in key states Bihar and Uttar Pradesh not very far away.
He called upon the RSS workers to adhere to the teachings of the organisation by exemplifying good behaviour and character, apparently a prerequisite to usher in social change.
“The sole aim of the Sangh was to create a perfect citizen in order for a fearless and well-off society to exist. The work could not be done just by giving public speeches but with commitment,” Bhagwat said.
He added that the aim of the organisation was to bring a change in society through individuals and hence its workers should function according to the aspirations of the Sangh and contribute their bit towards society. According to Bhagwat, the Sangh isn’t just an organisation but a “way of life” aimed at developing the spirit of doing things in the right manner and with punctuality.
“We do not hold the programmes or conventions to show our strength. We do not need showing of strength. Those who lack strength go for its show. We have enough strength,” he declared at the meet.
“We aim at self-projection...At our conventions, we religiously review the level of our discipline and the level of our commitment to the human values. We believe that we are the destiny makers and the future would be made the way we wanted it to become,” he said while adding that the country was “Bhav Pradhan”(feeling based) and people from one corner to another were close to each other.”
He advised the swayam sevaks to shun caste, creed, religious, cultural and linguistic differences and work hard to bring them under one umbrella of national homogeneity.
“There is so much diversity in the country, irrespective of caste, language or regional differences we all consider Bharat as mother. We say Bharat Mata ki jai,” he said.
