Fake CBI official, aide held in southeast Delhi
NEW DELHI: A 29-year-old physiotherapist, who posed as a CBI inspector, has been arrested by the southeast Delhi police for allegedly duping several people on the pretext of providing jobs in the home ministry and railways.
Police have arrested his accomplice, a 23-year-old autorickshaw driver from West Bengal.
The physiotherapist, Manmohan Vashisth, had been arrested in October last year too in a similar case in which he was held for posing as a CBI officer.
The other accused has been identified as Tapan Dev. Fake identity cards of MHA, admit cards for appearing in Railways and MHA recruitment exams, attendance sheets and question papers were recovered from them.
MS Randhawa, DCP (southeast), said the two were nabbed by a team from the Amar Colony police station led by SHO Aman Bansal and SI Rajesh Kumar, following investigation into a case filed by five people who were together duped of R 7.45 lakh.
“The complainants, including a woman were introduced to Manmohan by a woman, Gazala Hameed. Manmohan had identified himself as Ranbir Vashisth, senior CBI inspector. He tricked the victims into paying money for getting jobs in MHA and the railways. After receiving R7.45 lakh from them, the accused switched off their mobile phones and vacated their rented accommodation,” said Randhawa adding Manmohan was arrested from Jamia Nagar.
